It's the day before PD for the year starts again. What better to do with our time than go on a wonderful kayak trip that our friend Cat found? There was the obvious ... kayaking, but then bonus snorkeling, hiking, and then finally cliff jumping. Perfect weather, amazing views, good times with good people... all in all, a great time.
First, with the help of our friendly guide, we kayaked to a cave along the cliffs of the beach we launched from. He threw some snorkels at us and we saw some amazing fish and plants just ten feet below us.
I (Ben) am the bit of wake you can see out and to the left of the human. Lots of striped fish. Our kayaks were parked inside this grotto on a beach. That's right, beach grotto.
Once back in the kayaks, we paddled over to an islet off shore. It was the top of an old volcano and the ocean had made its way into the cone so we could kayak into it. Insane. We parked the kayaks to get up and walk around shore. Though the trash scattered around and cockroach-like water bugs scrambling over the rocks weren't so appealing, the dramatic view of the red and black cliffs rising out of the water in the middle of the ocean more than made up for that.
We then paddled over to a second islet, where we had to do a scramble straight up a hill and then stopped for a snack and some awesome views.

...and yes, you may notice that I (Hannah) am short about two feet of hair. ; )
Cat in the center with awesome reach to get us and the panorama behind us in the picture.
...and here it is without us. The foggy day made the weather beautiful and gave everything a mist-ical feel. (Sorry, one of our friends here is really into puns.)
Cat and Ben were definitely the paddling stars for the day! After a near-miss with a lighthouse due to some crazy-fast currents, we made it safely back to the cliffs near the beach, where we did this...
WOOOOOOO. I'm slightly happier about this prospect than Hannah.

All in all, an awesome way to kick off the school year!
